When should I book my session?

Engagements can be booked at any time once you are engaged.  However, if you wish to use the pictures for your save the date cards, it's best to do those early on during your engagement to allow for editing and printing.

Weddings should be booked ASAP as I only take on a limited amount of weddings each year.

Maternity sessions are best 2 months before your due date.  During this time you are showing enough, yet still relatively comfortable :)

Newborn sessions are booked between the first 7 to 14 days of life.  During the first two weeks, babies are the sleepiest and easiest to work with.

*50% Session fees are due at the time of booking to reserve your date.

What time will the session take place?

Kathryn prefers to shoot with natural light to capture that soft, beautiful glow on the subjects.  The best time of the day for outdoor sessions is the early morning and the late afternoon.  Depending on the season, this time is the two hours after sunrise and before sunset.  For indoor shoots, the best time is whenever your home receives the most sunlight.

Where will the session take place?

Sessions may take place at your home or a choice location.  Leading up to your shoot, you will be able to discuss the style of photographs that you desire and work with Kathryn to select the best location for your session.

What should I wear?

Attire is very important when it comes to being in front of the camera.  Think about what colors look best on your skin tone, how the clothes fit you, and the overall feel of your shoot.  You want to feel confident and look like yourself, just remember your favorite fun shirt may not translate well on camera.  If more than one person is going to be in the photos, think about how all of the outfits will coordinate and reflect your overall look.  Trying on outfits well in advance is also recommended.

What should I avoid wearing?

Avoid wearing large patterns and other distracting clothes.  Also remember that clothes that are tight or short may be uncomfortable during the session.  Also, depending on where your shoot is some clothes may not be appropriate; for example, if your shoot is in a fancy location, you are going to need to dress the part.

When will the pictures be ready?

All portrait photos will be ready 2 weeks after your session.  Wedding photos are the exception, and can take up to 3 months depending on the time of the year.

How do I pay?

KMP accepts credit card through Paypal and checks made out to Kathryn McCrary Photography.

What if I need to reschedule? 

Please call or email as soon as a problem occurs.  As long as you reschedule within 1 month of your original session date, you will not lose your session deposite.

What if the weather is bad?

Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather, so if it looks like rain on the day of your session, Kathryn will contact you and work with you to reschedule your session.
